GREENWICH, Conn. A Greenwich police officer was honored for assisting in the arrest of a group of teens accused of robbing a man in Byram.
Officer Jeffrey Loock had been assisting in the investigation of a robbery in the western section of Greenwich early on Jan. 26. The victim had been walking on Mill Street when he was attacked from behind by a small group of teens. He was knocked on the ground, chipping a tooth, and beaten about the head. The assailants took his iPhone and wallet before fleeing.
Loock was searching for the suspects and came upon four suspicious teens on West Putnam Avenue. He stopped them and found two of the teens had property belonging to the victim in their possession. They were all taken into custody. As the investigation continued, officers developed evidence that the group had also broken into several cars in Byram after the robbery.
"Officer Loock is one of our steady midnight officers and a solid performer, said Chief James Heavey, who awarded Loock as "Officer of the Month" for February. In this particular instance his familiarity with the neighborhood and his dedication to duty enabled us to make a quick apprehension."
