Greenwich Man Charged With Assaulting an Officer

GREENWICH, Conn. -- A Greenwich man was charged with assaulting a police officer Monday following a disturbance at an Armstrong Court apartment.

Orlando Pasto, 50, of 16 Armstrong Court, Apt. #12, had been arguing with another person whom he pushed, causing her to fall, officers said. She called 911, and when police arrived, Pasto became belligerent and assaulted an officer outside the apartment complex, authorities said. He continued to resist violently, causing minor injuries to two officers.

He was charged with assault of a police officer, breach of peace and disorderly conduct and was being held on a $50,000 bond. He was due in court Tuesday.

During the arrest, Pasto’s 18-year-old son, Orlando Jose Pasto Jr., attempted to prevent officers from handcuffing his father, police said. He was charged with interfering with an officer and released on a promise to appear in court on Monday, July 18.

? Thomas Davitt, 42, of 22 Riverview St. in Port Ewen, N.Y., was driving on West Putnam Avenue Monday when he rear-ended another vehicle, police said. No one was injured, but police said Davitt threw $900 at the other driver, then left the scene. He was located and arrested on charges of operation of an unregistered motor vehicle, evading responsibility, following too close, license classification, and no insurance. He was released on a $1,000 bond and is due in court July 28.

? A 15-year-old Greenwich boy was charged with disorderly conduct and assault Friday for fighting with another teen after summer school classes at Greenwich High School, police said. The victim told police he was behing the high school when the other teen “jumped” him and hit him. The 15-year-old was issued a juvenile summons and is due in juvenile court on July 19.
