Greenwich Lists Key Registration Dates for Primary

GREENWICH, Conn. – Whether you want to change party affiliation or just register to vote, here are some need-to-know dates for the 2012 primary election from the Greenwich registrar of voters:

• Party Transfer, May 14: This is the last day an enrolled elector can transfer from one party to another and be eligible to vote in the primary of the new party for state, district or municipal offices.

• Mail-in Registration, Aug. 9: Mail-in applications for a party registration must be postmarked by this day. Mail-in applications can also be received by a voter registration agency or by the Department of Motor Vehicles by this day in order to reach the registrar of voters by noon of Aug. 13.

Mail-in applications from unaffiliated voters must be received by Aug. 9 or submitted in person by noon on Aug. 13.  Unaffiliated mail-ins must be received by the 9th or in person by the 13th.

• In-person Registration, Aug. 13 until noon: This is the last day to register in-person with the Greenwich registrar of voters or town clerk for the primary as well as the November Election.

To simplify registration, the State of Connecticut offers “cross-town” voter registration by telephone at 860-509-6100. Cross-town registrations must be received by Aug. 13.

Applications from servicemen and persons who are out of the country may be received throughout the day.

The 2012 State Election Primary is Aug. 14. Only voters registered with a party can vote in the primary. Check here to find your polling place.
