Mahoney's tenure in Greenwich was a successful one: The library was named a five-star library by "Library Journal" all five years she was in charge

"I have thoroughly enjoyed working in Greenwich and being a part of the community. The Greenwich Library is truly an amazing resource that touches the lives of people every day," Mahoney said in a statement. "The trustees, staff, Friends, as well as the patrons and volunteers, have all contributed greatly to the ;ibrary's success. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to serve the Greenwich community."

The Board of Trustees for the library have already named Mahoney's successor, Deputy Director Barbara Ormerod-Glyn, who has been with the Greenwich Library for 11 years. She will begin her new position effective March 1.

"Barbara has been a true colleague and she is a highly effective, hand-on administrator who is totally dedicated to her profession," Mahoney said in a statement. "I am so pleased that she will have the opportunity to lead Greenwich Library into the future."

Mahoney said she plans to pursue opportunities closer to her home in Massachusetts.
