Greenwich Home to Billionaires on Forbes List

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – If you’re a billionaire living in Connecticut, chances are you live in Greenwich.

The lower Fairfield County town is home to some of the world’s wealthiest people, according to the Forbes magazine list of the world’s billionaires.

Ray Dalio, a Greenwich resident and manager of hedge fund Bridgewater Associates, is the top Connecticut billionaire, according to Forbes magazine, which unveiled its list of the world’s billionaires this week. Dalio is No. 88 on the world list of billionaires with a net worth of $10 billion.

Hedge fund titan Steve Cohen, also a Greenwich resident, makes the list at No. 106 with a net worth of $8.3 billion. Another Greenwich resident, Thomas Peterffy, owner of discount mortgage firm Interactive Brokers, checks in at No. 189 with a net worth of $5.4 billion. BVI Global Fund chief Paul Tudor Jones II, worth $3.4 billion, makes the list at No. 330.

Greenwich resident and investor Edward Lampert is No. 367 on the Forbes world list with a net worth of $3.1 billion. He is tied at that spot with Branford resident Karen Pritzker, an investor and shareholder in the Hyatt hotel chain her family started.

Other notable Connecticut residents include Danbury resident Peter Buck, founder of Subway restaurants, who makes the list at No. 467 with a net worth of $2.5 billion, hedge fund manager Stephen Mandel Jr. of Greenwich, ranked No. 854 and worth $1.5 billion, and Darien resident Richard Chilton Jr., No. 1,075 with a worth $1.1 billion.
