Greenwich Gets Ready for Town Party

GREENWICH, Conn. – Residents who snagged tickets to Saturday’s sold-out Greenwich Town Party at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park will get plenty of local BBQ and other fare, keep the kids entertained with toys and magicians, and see a full day of music performances.

Throughout the day, he’ll be joined on the main stage by reggae legends The Wailers , the blues band Tedeschi Trucks Band , gospel singer Kirk Franklin as well as Grace Potter & The Nocturnals . The latest addition to the lineup is Soprano Alyson Cambridge , who will perform the national anthem at 9:55 a.m. to kick off the day’s festivities.

The party will feature a family festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. complete with toy demonstrations by Try Out Toys, hula-hooping from We Sell Hoops, face painting by Faces by Wells, clown performances, strolling magicians, balloon artists and a balloon station by Mr. Bungles , caricature artists, free carnival games with prizes, arts and crafts, inflatable bounce houses and slides, and more.

Attendees can sample pulled pork BBQ and chicken from 10 teams then vote for their favorite in a grill-off from noon to 2:30 p.m.

An array of menu items will also be available for purchase from area restaurants, including Asiana Café, Aux Delices, Burke Catering, Fjord Fisheries, Longford’s Own-Made Ice Cream, The Ginger Man, My Favorite Place and Watson’s Catering.
