Greenwich Driver Gets Stuck in the Mud

GREENWICH, Conn. – A 57-year-old Greenwich woman was charged Friday with drunken driving after she got stuck in the mud on a resident’s lawn.

A witness flagged down an officer and said a silver Honda Accord with New York plates almost ran him over, hit a mailbox, drove onto a lawn and got stuck. Police found Shawn Samson, of 5 Putnam Green, Apt #5H, trying to get the car unstuck from the mud on the front lawn of 35 Byram Shore Road. Police said she could not walk without support from officers and refused field sobriety tests.

A police investigation revealed she had a suspended license. She was charged with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, operation of a motor vehicle without a license and criminal mischief.

Samson was released on a promise to appear in court March 15 but refused to sign the promise to appear. She was involuntarily committed to Greenwich Hospital on a 72-hour hold.
