A Greenwich real estate investor and his philanthropist wife will host President Barack Obama for a Democratic National Committee fundraising dinner at their Greenwich estate, according to published reports.
Richard and Ellen Schapps Richman will welcome the President and guests to their Conyers Farm home after the President headlines a fundraiser in Stamford for Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate.
Fundraiser patrons -- who are contributing $1,000 just to attend -- can have their picture taken with the President for $12,400, $10,000 of which goes to Connecticut Democrats. Reports suggest the price per plate for the dinner will be around $30,000.
Richman is chairman of The Richman Group of Companies in Greenwich. His wife is an adjunct professor of marketing at Pace University's Lubin School of Business as well as a philanthropist and leader with many Greenwich charities and non-profit groups.
In the past, the couple have individually contributed substantial amounts to Democratic campaigns. In 2000 they threw a similar fundraising event for then Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Joe Lieberman.
