FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Winter is on its way, and if you needed any reminders, Fairfield County could see frost this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

A freeze watch is in effect from late Saturday night through Sunday morning for the New York metropolitan area, including Fairfield County; Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties in New York; and parts of Passaic and Bergen counties in New Jersey.

Temperatures could fall to the upper 20s to 30 degrees, the National Weather Service is warning.

Sensitive vegetation may be damaged or killed due to below-freezing temperatures.

The National Weather Service advises taking precautions such as covering plants or taking them inside, if possible.
