GREENWICH, Conn. – First Selectman Peter J. Tesei convened a meeting with Greenwich Town Department Managers and Emergency Management Director, Dan Warzoha, on Thursday evening to discuss preparations for the potential impact of Hurricane Sandy on the town.

Town personnel are securing all town facilities, reviewing response plans and organizing human and physical resources to be ready for the impact of the storm. Greenwich officials will follow a priority list that addresses life safety issues as the most important area of concern. Other priorities include road closures, safe routing for traffic and pedestrians and debris removal.

The town will post twice-daily updates beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday evening for the latest information on storm preparedness and response. Regular updates will follow at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day until the storm passes.

The town is also encouraging residents to review its hurricane preparedness brochure .

On Friday morning, the latest models are predicting Hurricane Sandy will strike somewhat farther south than originally forecast. According to multiple weather sites, Washington, D.C. and southern New Jersey will bear the full brunt of the storm.

However, Greenwich and the rest of the tri-state area will likely still be impacted by heavy rain and high winds due to the enormous size of the storm.
