Greenwich To Appoint New Selectman To Replace The Late Dave Theis

GREENWICH, Conn. -- A new selectman will be chosen in Greenwich on Wednesday to replace the late Dave Theis.

Theis died shortly before Christmas, and the decision on his replacement falls on First Selectman Peter Tesei and Drew Marzullo, who was the sole Democratic member of the three-person board.

The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. in the Greenwich Town Hall Meeting Room and it is the sole item on the board's agenda.

According to Section 9-222 of the Connecticut General Statutes, Theis' position on the three-person Board of Selectmen will be filled by someone named by Tesei and Marzullo within 30 days "of the date of the occurrence."

A Republican, Theis, 65, died unexpectedly on Dec. 23 after suffering an apparent heart attack while working out a Greenwich gym.  

He was first elected to the Greenwich Board of Selectmen in 2009. 

Theis, who lived in the Cost Cob with his partner, Kerrin Coyle, worked at Wells Fargo as first vice president in the private client group in the Old Greenwich office.

He was a third generation Greenwich resident and graduated from Greenwich High School and the University of New Haven. He was a former faculty member at Greenwich Country Day School and had volunteered at the Greenwich YMCA ,United Way, Masonic Lodge of Greenwich, Connecticut chapter of NFL Alumni and the Greenwich Old Timers Athletic Association.
