FEMA Deadline Extended For Greenwich Residents

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. ? Residents  of Fairfield County have an extra month to apply for federal aid for damage caused by Hurricane Sandy.

Applications are now due at the Federal Emergency Management Agency by Jan. 28, 2013, instead of Dec 31. Nearly 7,300 applications had been received just from Fairfield County as of Dec. 19, FEMA reported, over half of the total 11,366 applications received from the four counties declared disaster zones. 

Federal assistance can include money for rental assistance, essential home repairs, personal property losses and other disaster-related needs that are not covered by family or individual insurance.

Residents and businesses in Fairfield County that suffered damage as a result of Hurricane Sandy should register with FEMA by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or by clicking here. Applications can also be made through mobile devices by clicking here. For those with speech or hearing disabilities, the TTY number is 1-800-462-7585.
