Fairfield County's Stop & Shops Pull Bread Crumbs From Shelves

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- After a recall by Elevation Foods, Stop & Shop announced it has removed Ian’s All Natural Italian Style Panko Breadcrumbs from the shelves in all Fairfield County stores due to a misleading label.

The label on the breadcrumbs promoted the product as "allergy-friendly, gluten free," but the item contained wheat, which can be an allergen. 

The product is safe for consumers who do not have a wheat allergy. 

The specific product being recalled is the nine-ounce an’s All Natural Italian Style Panko Bread Crumbs. The product has UPC 74951277220 with an expiration date of "31MAY15," "11OCT15" and "17OCT15."

Stop & Shop has received no reports of illnesses to date. 

Customers who have purchased the product should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to Stop & Shop for a full refund.
