FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Spring begins in a week and a half, but a new winter storm is headed toward Fairfield County and the Northeast.

Fairfield County residents can enjoy a spring-like Tuesday with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-50s, according to the National Weather Service.

But rain will arrive Wednesday, with a chance of thunderstorms, in time for the afternoon commute. The high will be about 50 degrees.

There is a chance of snow showers Wednesday night through Thursday morning as temperatures plunge into the 20s with little or no accumulation expected. Areas north and west of New York City are expected to see several inches of snow, and parts of northern New England could get up to 9 inches.

Thursday will see some snow and rain in the morning, with highs in the upper 20s. It will be blustery with northwest winds of 21 to 24 mph and gusts as high as 34 mph. Temperatures will drop into the single digits in the evening with blustery winds continuing.

Friday will be sunny, with a high near 36 degrees.

Weston Daily Voice is getting a little annoying with emailing so many "news alerts" with soft news. They used to be reserved for urgent big news. I'd prefer an announcement of things like normal temperature fluctuations go on the regular news feed.
