GREENWICH, Conn. — A large power outage that hit the Old Greenwich area late Monday morning will continue into the evening, Greenwich police reported via Twitter.
"There's equipment damage at one of our substations affecting Greenwich," Eversource said via Twitter. "Power should be restored by approx 2am. Thanks."
There were a total of 1,121 outages as of 10:45 a.m. Monday, or 4 percent of the town, according to Eversource. Those 1,121 customers were still without power as of 5 p.m. Monday.
Eversource is on the scene, working on the issue, according to Greenwich police. Earlier reports had said the outages would be repaired by 1:30 p.m.
Workers discovered additional substation damage while repairing the initial equipment issue, Eversource said via Twitter.
Earlier on Monday afternoon, Eversource said, "There's an equipment issue & crews are working as quickly & safely as possible to restore power."
