Driver With BB Gun Arrested in Greenwich

A North Haven man was arrested in Greenwich early Tuesday after he told police he had come to town to “beat up” someone. Joshua Pires, 33, of 204 Rimmon Road, was driving suspiciously on Old Field Point Road when he was stopped, police said. Officers saw a BB gun in his passenger seat and asked him to get out the car. He appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests, police said.

Pires was arrested on charges of weapons in a motor vehicle, possession of narcotics, failure to insure a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle under the influence, improper used of a marker plate and operation of an unregistered motor vehicle. He was held on $10,000 bond and is due in court March 22.

Also from the police blotter:

• Daniel Wall, 30, was arrested Monday after a verbal fight became physical and Wall allegedly strangled the other person. He was charged with disorderly conduct, assault and strangulation. He was released on $500 bond.

• Filipe Marinho, 19, of 72 Prospect St., Greenwich, was arrested Sunday on charges of driving under the influence, operating without a license and interfering with an officer after police found him attempting to leave an area of Nearwater Lane where teens were reported fighting.
