A Stamford man was arrested in Greenwich on Sunday after falling asleep at the wheel and hitting another car while at a green light at Mill Street and North Water Street, police said.

Responding officers found Ramon Alfre Martinez-Espinoza, 38, of 134 Lockwood Ave., asleep at the wheel of his car. When police couldn't wake him, they opened the car door and smelled alcohol from within the vehicle. Martinez-Espinoza admitted to drinking before the car accident, police said.

He failed field sobriety tests and was unable to provide a valid driver's license. Martinez-Espinoza was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with no driver's license and following too closely. He was held on $250 bond and is due in court Dec. 27.
