FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Heavy rains are expected in parts of Fairfield County Tuesday night, the National Weather Service says.

Tuesday should be cooler, with temperatures reaching a high in the 60s, and rain and wind picking up in the afternoon, the Weather Service says.

The rain will get heavier Tuesday night, when up to an inch could fall.

Heavy rain could continue into Wednesday morning, with showers possible into Wednesday night, the Weather Service says.

Recent rains mean there is no longer a drought in southern Fairfield County, according to the National Drought Mitigation Center.
