GREENWICH, Conn. -- Some riders on Metro-North trains were experiencing another problem Monday evening: Westbound trains were not stopping at the stations in Old Greenwich, Riverside and Cos Cob due to trees blocking the tracks.

The problem was reported at 9 p.m. Monday by Metro-North, and it continued past midnight. It was not clear whether the problem would be repaired by the Tuesday morning commute.

Shuttle bus service was being provided between Stamford and Greenwich for access to those stations.

Riders were advised to listen for announcements at the stations.

The New Haven Line was already experiencing five- to 10-minute delays due to a fire Saturday morning that destroyed a remote switching control house near Cos Cob. The delays will continue "until further notice," Metro-North said.

The "railroad is only able to use two of four tracks in the peak direction through a 9-mile stretch. The fire has also eliminated the ability of the railroad to operate trains around problems if any arise in this area," Metro-North said in a release Monday.

The loss of the Cos Cob control house was also disrupting Metro-North's Train Time App, website information and station LCD monitors, Metro-North said.

Those services rely on the signal system to track the status of trains and provide train information. Due to the fire damage to the control house that affects the signal system between Stamford and Port Chester, N.Y., there will be inaccurate reporting on the status of trains while going through this section of the New Haven Line, Metro-North said.

Once trains have cleared the section, their current status will be updated to provide real-time train information.
