Latecomers' beware: Parking Service Director Allen Corry will not be playing nice with those who do not renew their train station parking permits on time. So many people missed the original deadline that a new deadline of Aug. 20.
According to Corry, parking services have been lenient with renewals. Each current permit holder is mailed a renewal form as early as May or June but many to ignore the deadline.
"About half of the permit holders missed the July 31 deadline," he said. That resulted in the new deadline of Aug. 20. "We want to make people more aware of renewing their permits so others can get off the wait list."
Train station parking permits are issued annually for $279 for the Old Greenwich, Riverside, Cos Cob and central Greenwich stations. Permits are also available for $488 at the Greenwich Plaza Garage. According to Corry, there are about 1,000 people on a combined waitlist for train station parking permits.
"We want to give people an opportunity to renew," he said. "Each late situation will be dealt on a case-to-case basis."
