Dangerous Cold Continues In Greenwich

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Saturday will be sunny in Fairfield County, but it may not feel any warmer with wind chills predicted to be below zero again, according to the National Weather Service.

The high temperature will be about 24 degrees, but the wind chill will make it feel as cold as -12 degrees.

Wind chills below zero could lead to frostbite or hypothermia for those exposed to the extreme cold. (Read this story in The Daily Voice to learn how to protect yourself from the bitter cold and about the warning signs.)

In a nonscientific poll Friday, readers of The Daily Voice made it clear that they were planning on staying indoors. In response to the question, "How are you planning on spending the snow day?" the results were:

58 percent: Inside bundled up, its cold!
3 percent: Playing outside with the kids
24 percent: Working, snow doesn't stop business!
15 percent: Shoveling the snow

Patchy fog will roll in after midnight Saturday with a low of about 16 degrees.

There is a slight chance of freezing rain and sleet before noon on Sunday, then rain likely and a high near 40 degrees.

Monday will bring more rain with a chance of snow in the afternoon. But the deep freeze returns Tuesday with a high near 10 degrees under sunny skies.
