CL&P Moves More Power Recovery Crews Into Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. – Connecticut Light & Power significantly increased its hurricane recovery presence in Greenwich Friday.

The town got 14 additional two-person tree crews and 25 additional two-person line crews. That's in addition to the original allocation of 12 two-person tree crews and 14 two-person line crews.

The additional crews arrived late Thursday night and began work Friday morning. CL&P is sticking by its estimate that 95 percent of Greenwich customers will have power back by Monday or Tuesday.

More than half of Greenwich remained without power Friday morning, with 14,346 customers, or 51-percent, in the dark.

The town closed the shelter at the Western Civic Center, consolidating the number of shelters to one. Eastern Middle School is still open as a round-the-clock shelter, and the American Red Cross will still maintain a reception center at the Western Civic Center.

As the cleanup continued, the town provided a list of licensed waste haulers to contact to dispose of debris on residential property. Holly Hill Waste Disposal and Recycling is operating on extended hours through Tuesday.
