Garcia's daughter Trixie made the announcement during a recent performance at the venue by Furthur, which is led by former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh.

"This is an amazing venue that Jerry loved dearly, and we're honored to have the front room renamed Garcia's," Trixie Garcia told the audience. "I really hope you guys bring all the love and community and good vibes up in there, share some stories and make it a great place."

Garcia and the Grateful Dead played several shows at the Capitol Theatre back in the 70s, and he listed it among his favorite venues. The bar will feature memorabilia, live music, craft beers, and a sculpture of Jerry Garcia's hand.

"Jerry's parents ran a bar, so this is really continuing a family tradition for us. I love all of you and it's so nice to have a hub on the east coast," Garcia said.

"This is why we brought this place back," said Pete Shapiro, owner of the Capitol Theatre.
