Bridgeport Fire Stalls Metro-North Trains in Greenwich

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – A large warehouse fire near the train tracks in Bridgeport has the New Haven Line of Metro-North Railroad running at 25 percent from Bridgeport to Southport on Thursday evening.

A Metro-North spokesman said the fire was reported by the Bridgeport Fire Department, which asked that rail service be suspended. All four tracks were closed for about 45 minutes. At about 8:40 p.m., one track was reopened to ease the delays.

Train delays of 45 minutes were still reported as of 10:40 p.m., the spokesman said. He predicted that by the time the last train of the night leaves Grand Central, all tracks would be cleared and service would return to normal for Friday morning travel.
