Boys & Girls Club Of Greenwich Holds 'Sound Of Music' Auditions

GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich’s Theatre Program will hold auditions in December for its mainstage musical, "The Sound of Music”.

Auditions will be held Thursday, Dec. 11 and Friday, Dec.  12 from 6-9 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich on 4 Horseneck Lane. Performances will be April 24  and 25, 2015.

Christina Kampler will direct the musical with Zachary Kampler as musical director, Jennifer Dunn as choreographer; Don Palmer, Boys & Girls Club program director and Rocco Natale, artistic director emeritus.

"The Sound of Music" is based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, the story of the Trapp Family Singers.  The show includes "Edelweiss," "My Favorite Things," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "Do-Re-Mi," the title song "The Sound of Music". 

The musical was written by Rodgers and Hammerstein and the original Broadway production of "The Sound of Music" starred Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel when it opened on Nov. 16, 1959.  The 1965 film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, won five Academy Awards.  Young people ages 6-18 are encouraged to audition and should prepare an a capella song and will be required to read from a script. Participants must become a member at  the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich before Dec. 11.
