FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Here's a look at the top stories from last week across Fairfield County.

After a day of romping around the streets of Fairfield, a bear cub climbed a tree in the backyard of a Denise Terrace home on Thursday and took a nap. A crew from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection ended up tranquilizing the bear and relocating him to a nearby forest.

A fast-moving thunderstorm knocked out power to half the customers in Redding and Ridgefield. The storm knocked down trees, branches and wires, closing local roads as well as Route 58.  

Bridgeport celebrated as students graduated from Central High, Bassick High and Harding High. All the commencement exercises were held at the Webster Bank Arena. 

A 65-year-old Weston man was arrested by Westport police and charged with evading responsibility in connection with a hit-and-run of a pedestrian in May, police said.
