FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The National Weather Service has issued a possible flood watch for Fairfield County due to heavy rainfall of up to 4½ inches predicted between Thursday and Saturday.
Showers could begin early Thursday morning, and thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon, the weather service said. The flood watch will go into effect from 8 a.m. Thursday and continue to 8 a.m. Saturday, the weather service said. High temperatures will hit only about 65 degrees. Rainfall will become heavier in the evening.
June has been a rainy month for Fairfield County, with nearly 4 inches of rain falling last week as Tropical Storm Andrea moved through the region.
The storm is caused by low pressure that’s forecast to build over the mid-Atlantic states Thursday. It could head north and pass south and east of Long Island by Thursday night and into Friday morning, the weather service warning said.
Rain will likely continue Friday with a high near 67 degrees.
