GREENWICH, Conn. – As temperatures soared Wednesday, 50 power outages were reported as of 4 p.m. in Greenwich, according to Connecticut Light & Power.

Hot weather was one of several causes of outages for more than 5,600, or 17 percent, of CL&P's customers in Greenwich last June. CL&P has since vowed to improve service reliability, including upgrading infrastructure.

So far, outages in Greenwich have been sparse during the heat wave that began Wednesday morning and is expected to clear out by the weekend.
