Rebecca Fretty, CEO of the Greenwich Family YMCA, recently had what she called "a life-changing experience" -- one she hopes will help her improve the ways the Y serves the community.
The Y executive took part in a weeklong workshop for the managers of non-profit organizations at the Harvard Business School. The conference brought together 158 CEO's from around the world to learn from each other and the school's faculty.
Fretty said she left Harvard realizing that the Greenwich Y is a large social provider for the town, but also that "there is so much more we could be doing in the way of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility."
She plans to make the social value of the Greenwich Y more visible to the community and to appreciate its core values and mission every day.
Fretty attended the program on a scholarship from Harvard Business School Community Partners. "I am forever grateful to the HBSCP for giving me this once in a lifetime opportunity," she said.
