The guest speaker will be Karla Schaefer, a congresswoman and human rights activist in Peru.

Schaefer has been a voice for oppressed and trafficked women and children in Peru and throughout Latin America. Schaefer has ties to the local community: She is a cousin to Jeannette Gugelmann, of Greenwich, who has herself been a volunteer and advocate working on behalf of vulnerable children in the United States and in her native country of Peru.

A silent auction, including travel, shopping, dining and jewelry from merchants in and around Greenwich, will be held during the luncheon to benefit the World Vision Projects.

The money raised will go to underprivileged women and children in the Bronx, Stamford, and around the world, including Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Dominican Republic, and Cambodia.

Tickets for the luncheon start at $150 each.

Women of Vision is a volunteer ministry of World Vision that educates, inspires, and equips women to use their resources in compassionate, mutually life-changing service to impoverished and oppressed women and children worldwide.

World Vision is dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice.

In addition to fundraising and hands-on service, the Fairfield County chapter of Women of Vision promotes child sponsorship and travels each year, at their own expense, to see firsthand the projects and children they support.
