Tesei Declares Safe Boating Week In Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. – With the official start of the boating season this coming Memorial Day weekend, Greenwich First Selectman Peter Tesei has declared this week “North American Safe Boating Week.”

The “North American Safe Boating Week” began Saturday and continues through Friday. With members of the Greenwich Sail and Power Squadron - Andy Cummings, Susan Ryan and Nancy York, First Selectman Tesei presented the Safe Boating Week proclamation in Greenwich Town Hall. Also accompanying Tesei were Greenwich Police Lt. John Brown, commander of the Department’s Marine Section, and section members Sgt. Michael O’Connor Sr. and Officers Charles Eible.

The Greenwich Sail and Power Squadron, in conjunction with the Greenwich Marine Police Section, will be offering the Connecticut Boating Course from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 11 at Greenwich Police headquarters, 11 Bruce Place, Greenwich. Those who complete the course will receive the Connecticut Boating Certificate that includes the personal watercraft/jet ski certificate. The course tuition is $80 per person.
