Rob Mathes 17th annual Christmas Concert this Saturday in Stamford has all the right ingredients to put music fans into the holiday spirit. Its both a benefit for the orphaned photo kids of the Rwanda genocide and a showcase for their work.
The late David Jiranek of Greenwich launched "Through the Eyes of Children: The Rwanda Project" in 2000. He was the first person to go to Rwanda and teach its orphans how to deal with the grief of genocide through photography. Over the past 10 years, the works of the 19 orphan children have been exhibited around the world and have received a number of awards.
The concert will take place at the Palace Theatre and will raise funds to help the "photo kids" prepare for the future. Tickets are $55, $40 and $35. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. For more information, visit the website of the Stamford Center for the Arts .
