South Salem Student Is Finalist In Greenwich Film Festival

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – South Salem’s Sam Wolfson, a student at John Jay High School, has been named as a finalist in the 2013 Greenwich Youth Film Festival for his film, “Lonesome.”

The Greenwich Film Festival, hosted by The Junior League of Greenwich, invites high school students from throughout Fairfield and Westchester counties to submit original films in such various categories as documentary, public service announcement, music video, animation and creative. Wolfson is competing against 11 others in the creative category.

Top winners will be announced at the festival's ceremony on Sunday, May 5. Speakers at the event will include film writer and producer David Levien, Blue Sky Studios animator Joe Antonuccio and Island Def Jam Music Group president Steve Bartels. Among the awards are $1,000 to the Grand Prize winner, $500 each for the other four genre winners, $100 each for second-place genre winners and $50 each for third-place genre winners.

The award ceremony begins at 1 p.m. in the Cole Auditorium, Greenwich Library, 101 W. Putnam Ave., Greenwich. The public is invited. There is no admission charge. To reserve a space, go to The Junior League of Greenwich website.
