Santa And His Reindeer Delight Greenwich In Annual Parade

GREENWICH, Conn. -- The big man himself, Santa Claus, paraded down Greenwich Avenue on Nov. 29 with four of his reindeer and several Greenwich officials to kick off the fifth annual Greenwich Reindeer Festival.

Santa and his reindeer are taking up residence in Greenwich until Christmas Eve as part of the fifth annual Greenwich Reindeer Festival.

First Selectman Peter Tesei, Selectman Drew Marzullo, Courtney Kane from News 12, traveling in Mercedes-Benz convertibles, along with James McArdle and representatives from Greenwich Magazine accompanied Santa and his reindeer.

Crowds gathered as the reindeer made their way to their month-long home at McArdle's Florist and Garden Center. Eatalian Style provided refreshments for a Welcome Back party, a merry kickoff to the holiday season.

Photos with Santa have begun and will continue through Christmas Eve. There’s plenty of time to see the reindeer and meet Santa.

The Fifth Annual Greenwich Reindeer Festival & Santa's Workshop will take place noon to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Reindeer feeding times will take place daily at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The reindeer will head to the North Pole on Dec. 23, but Santa will remain until 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve before beginning his busy night.
