Russian Pianist to Take the Stage

The Greenwich Library will host award-wining Russian concert pianist Vassily Primakov as he performs works by Chopin and Rachmaninoff on Sunday, Nov. 21.

Primakov began his studies at Moscow's Central Special Music School at the age of 11 under the supervision of pianist Vera Gornostayeva. He then went on to the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, Calif., and the Julliard School in New York City at the age of 17. During his time at Julliard, Primakov worked with Jerome Lowenthal, a professor of piano, and won the William Petschek Piano Recital Award, which led to his debut recital at Alice Tully Hall.

In 2007, he was named Young Artist of the Year by the Classical Recording Foundation, and in 2009, Best of the Year by National Public Radio.

He will perform at 4 p.m. in the Cole Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call 203-622-7938.
