Reserve a Greenwich Camping or Picnic Spot

GREENWICH, Conn. – Greenwich residents thinking ahead to warm weather activities are reminded that the Department of Parks and Recreation will start accepting reservations this month for picnics and overnight camping.

Reservations will be taken starting Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 8 a.m. in the Cone Conference Room on the second floor of Town Hall. The conference room is across the hall from the Parks and Recreation Department.

A permit fee and proof of residency are required at time of reservation. For picnics, the fee is $150. For overnight campouts there is a $35 nonrefundable reservation fee plus charges of $15 per person. Those making reservations must be town residents, part of the picnic or overnight campout group they are reserving for and 21 or older.

Anyone with an open balance with the parks and recreation office must settle the balance by the close of business Jan. 18 before reservations can be made.

Town picnic areas include the Clambake and Cowbarn locations at Greenwich Point, the Clambake area at Byram Park, the Woods Road Picnic Area at Bruce Park and the picnic area at the Montgomery Pinetum. Overnight camping can be done only at Island Beach and Great Captain’s Island.
