The July 17 reception was hosted by Sara Herbert-Galloway, board member of the James Jay Dudley Luce Foundation.

The event raised money and awareness for the work of Orphans International Worldwide, which began in 1999 with the support of child psychologist Frances Dudley Alleman-Luce, who died in 2001.

Affiliated with the United Nations, the group built facilities for children after the tsunami of 2004 in Indonesia and Sri Lanka, and after hurricanes and earthquake in Haiti beginning in 2002.

Becker Chicaiza, of Becker Salon, hosted the event at the salon and is planning additional fundraising for the organization in the coming months.

The 2015 East Coast Tour continues through Sept. 13 with its last stop in Darien. For more information, visit www.lucefoundation.org or www.OIWW.org.
