Two Greenwich police officers have been honored as Officers of the Month for their work leading to the arrest of two burglary suspects on Grass Island on Aug. 24.
Officers Tom Huestis and John Woodward coordinated surveillance of a suspicious vehicle that resulted in the arrest of the two on charges of burglarizing boats. The officers were commended for their dedication to the department by Capt. James Heavey of the patrol division.
"The cover of darkness and park setting is often used both by the honest citizen seeking a quiet spot to relax and by the common criminal seeking obscurity as they perpetrate their crime," Heavey said in a prepared statement. "The officers following their instincts and following through with solid investigative techniques were able to discern the purpose of these suspects."
