Greenwich Artists Win At Rowayton Arts Center

ROWAYTON, Conn. – Artists from all over Fairfield County won awards during a reception for the “Alternative Visions” exhibition at the Rowayton Arts Center. The exhibit showcases high-quality abstract artwork across a variety of media.

Sandy Gennrich of Stamford won Best in Show for his photograph “Submerged Moon.” The winning artwork was selected by Joan Wheeler, a painter and photographer who has taught art at Ridgefield Academy for the past seven years.

“I loved seeing the variety and individuality of work in this abstract exhibition,” Wheeler said. “I was impressed by the experimental use of materials and by the willingness of RAC members to explore new methods of creating art. It’s refreshing to see the mixture of individual styles and personal viewpoints represented in the exhibit.”

The exhibition is on display through Sept. 30 at the Rowayton Arts Center, 145 Rowayton Ave. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free. The Best in Show and First Place artwork can be viewed at www.rowaytonartscenter.org.
