DenUyl comes to the church from the United Congregational Church of Little Compton in Rhode Island, where he resided for 20 years. But he is very familiar with the state of Connecticut, as he was an Interim Associate Pastor at Norfield Congregational Church in Weston. He also has experience as a psychological crisis counselor for three towns in the New Haven area.

DenUyl's journey began in Arizona, taking him to such varied places as Holland, MI, Chicago and Westhampton, NY before settling in Little Compton. DenUyl's tenure began on Sept. 1 with his wife, Barbara, at his side. The couple have one daughter, Sophie, who is currently attending college in Manhattan.
