The award, to be presented by Dr. Philip J. Landrigan, director of the Mount Sinai Children’s Environmental Health Center, recognizes leaders whose vision, expertise and energy significantly advance the center's mission and the children’s environmental health movement locally and globally.

Alba recently published her book, which reveals tips for making healthy living for her family fun, real and stylish.

The event is the sixth annual Greening Our Children benefit luncheon. Last year’s award was presented to U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey.

Alba will be presented the award at 1 p.m. and is scheduled to give a speech. She is the star of such films as "Fantastic Four" and "Sin City."
