Morning News Anchor Sukanya Krishnan Emcees Greenwich Gala

GREENWICH, Conn. -- The India Cultural Center of Greenwich has announced that 11 PIX Morning News lead anchor Sukanya Krishnan will emcee its third annual gala, to be held at L’escale Restaurant on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The gala begins at 7 p.m. L'escale Restaurant is at 500 Steamboat Ave.

Krishnan, a five-time Emmy-winning newscaster, was the first South Asian anchor in local morning news in New York City.

She has been honored by numerous organizations for her community and ground-breaking work, notably the NYPD, the NY State Assembly and the NY City Council.

Krishnan received her first Emmy for live coverage on 9/11.

Krishnan lends her voice to the Indian American Political Awareness Committee to raise awareness of Indian American political issues in the U.S.

Benny Rietveld, musical director and bass player for Santana for the last 25 years, and an ensemble of traditional Indian accompanists will headline the evening entertainment with a Hindustani jazz/rock fusion concert.

Rietveld has nine Grammys and three Latin Grammys to his credit.

A producer and composer, Rietveld has performed with many of the greats including Miles Davis, Dave Matthews and Sheila E. Virsa.

A New York City Bhangra dance group will literally get the evening off to a jumping start with a demonstration of Bhangra, a traditional dance from Punjab.

Three-star chef Frederick Kieffer of l’escale is creating an Indian inspired three-course dinner which will be followed by a whiskey tasting.

Throughout the evening, an auction of fine art and jewelry and extraordinary experiences will be available for bidding at the event and online at www.501auctions.com/icc .

ICC’s gala is sponsored by NYC art galleries, DAG Modern and Kapoor Galleries and Greenwich Avenue newcomer, Shreve, Crump & Low.
