More Snow, More Cold As March Comes In Like A Lion In Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Enough already! Greenwich, which was slammed with an overnight Sunday-into-Monday storm that dumped about 6 inches of snow, is now bracing for another blast of winter weather.

"I'm tired of this," said a man who would only give his first name Dave as he walked down Greenwich Avenue on Monday.

The next storm is due Tuesday, with a Winter Weather Advisory due to start at 3 p.m. and last until 10 a.m. Wednesday. The National Weather Service warns of 2 to 4 inches of snow and a tenth of an inch of freezing rain. The snow will develop late Tuesday afternoon, then mix with sleet and freezing rain in the evening and night. The snow- and ice-covered surfaces will make travel difficult. Check the calendar -- it's March. 

The latest snowfall has resulted in the postponement of a maple-tapping event by the Greenwich Land Trust. The event had been planned for Tuesday but has been delayed to Wednesday, March 18, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. It will be held at the American Chestnut Sanctuary across from 18 Burning Tree Road.

Sunday's snow also resulted in a two-hour delay for Greenwich Schools as yet another Monday of school was either cancelled or delayed in this snowy winter season of 2015.

The forecast for this week is typical March, some snow, some rain, some freezing rain, warmer weather and then some colder weather as winter is slow to lose its grip.

More rain is possible Wednesday, with a high of about 41 degrees. Snow could return again Thursday before sunny skies show up on Friday.
