To the Editor,
No sooner had co-chairs Catherine Tompkins and Carrie Wallack put out word about securing the appearance of AD100 Designer Jeffrey Bilhuber for a lunch and lecture at the Belle Haven Club to benefit the Greenwich Historical Society, when the phone began to ring off the hook. Before printed invitations had even hit the Post Office, the event had reached its original reservation limit, so it was decided to tent the Belle Haven Club dining room to double capacity. The resulting sellout program was an enormous hit from start to finish.
The Greenwich Historical Society would like to extend a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to our talented and tireless co-chairs and to all the table hosts for orchestrating a fun and fabulous program. Profound thanks to Jeffrey Bilhuber, media sponsor Connecticut Cottages & Gardens and business supporters Artistic Upholstery, Dovecote, Greenwich Orchids, Juliska, Quadrille, Tory Burch, Frederic Fekkai, John Robshaw and graphic designers Campbell & Company, without whom this stellar event would not have been possible. Finally, our sincere appreciation to all who attended, who bought raffle tickets and books, and who showed their support in so many other ways.
Two hundred lucky guests were captivated by Bilhuber's insider advice and his willingness to share tips and resources, wowed by spectacular table settings tricked out in true Bilhuber style, and treated to up-close-and-personal advice at a post-luncheon Q&A session. "Greenwich Avenue Grande Dame" raffle prize recipient Karen Wood won a package of gifts and services valued at $5,500. Emerging designer Wendy Hearn won a three-hour private consultation with Mr. Bilhuber (priceless!) and five lucky raffle participants won table overlays designed by Mr. Bilhuber.
The abundance of enthusiasm and support for the Greenwich Historical Society demonstrated at this event is extremely gratifying and serves as incontrovertible evidence that Greenwich truly recognizes the contributions that the Historical Society makes to our quality of life. Memories of this sparkling event will go down as yet another chapter in the story of our colorful past.
Sincerely,Barbara BishopMarketing & Communications Director
