Joseph Ossorio, Greenwich Opera Aficionado, Dies

GREENWICH, Conn. – Joseph V. Ossorio, 71, a lifelong Greenwich resident, died March 30. 

He was born in California May 17, 1940 to the late Luis and Florence (Buchanan) Ossorio. He attended Greenwich Country Day and was a graduate of Georgetown University and The Canterbury School. In his younger years, Ossorio enjoyed growing orchids and raising saltwater fish. 

A lover of opera, Ossorio most enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his daughters, Meagan (Jeff) Urban and Brooke (Mark) Howat; his brothers, Mike (Maridol) Ossorio and Cliff (Sylvia) Ossorio; and seven grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ossorio was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Ossorio in 2001; and his grandson Benjamin. 

Family and friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Castiglione Funeral Home, Inc. in Greenwich. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 am. Tuesday at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside. Burial will be private.
