Holiday Stroll Winners Find Extra Gift Under Tree

Steven and Susan Liguori didn't expect to win a weekend getaway to a luxury resort in Lake Placid, N.Y., when they entered the Greenwich Reindeer Shopping Passport Drawing. But the Darien residents won the first place prize to the Mirror Lake Inn Resort.

"It was an unexpected bonus after our purchases on the Avenue," said Steven Liguori, who entered the drawing with his wife on a lark. The Liguoris said they've never won anything before and are thrilled to be going to the Mirror Lake Inn for the first time. Susan works as a chaplain at Greenwich Hospital, and her husband, Steven, works at GE in Fairfield.

Andrew and Jamie Woodworth won the second place prize: a family four pack of tickets to a Bridgeport Sound Tigers game. But they felt like winners. The Woodworths, devoted Sound Tigers fans, had asked their parents if could trade in the first place prize, if the won, in exchange for the second place prize. Their mother, Lisa, said the boys were delighted and are looking forward to seeing the game and meeting players. Greenwich resident Kathy Micati won the third place prize of a $50 credit at TD Bank with a new account.

The shopping passport was part of the Greenwich Holiday Stroll Weekend on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5 to benefit town-based Kids in Crisis. Participating retailers on the Avenue stamped their respective boxes on the passports after purchases. After participants finished, their passports were put into Santa's mailbox at McArdle's Florist and Garden Center.
