Roberto Martin Antonio "Bobby" Bonilla, who has owned a home in Greenwich, turns 51 on Sunday. The Baseball player was born February 23, 1963, in Bronx, New York.

Bonilla was signed out of high school by Pittsburgh Pirates scout Syd Thrift and made his major league debut with the White Sox.

He played from 1984 to 1988 with the Mayagüez Indians of the Puerto Rican Winter League and also with New York Mets (twice), Baltimore Orioles, Florida Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves & St. Louis Cardinals.

He is the highest paid player per year in the history of baseball and the four major professional sports (baseball, basketball, football, and hockey) in the United States thanks to an infamous contract signed with the Mets.

He was a six-time All-Star, and had career statistics of 2,010 hits, 287 home runs, 1,173 runs batted in, and a career .279 batting average.
