Flax has an M.A. in museum education and has broad experience in the field, including managing the interactive play space at MoMA, working as a New York Transit Museum educator and guiding visitors through the galleries at the Guggenheim, according to a press release. Most recently, Flax was senior educator in the education department of Wave Hill in the Bronx, where she developed curriculum, forged partnerships with schools and supervised training of new educators and interns, according to a press release.
“Education is a critical part of our mission here at the Bruce,” says Susan Ball, deputy director of the museum, in a press release. “Last year alone we reached more than 15,000 students through our on-site and outreach. In addition to reaching a large number of students, we aim to develop lasting and meaningful partnerships with as many schools and community organizations as we can."
“Working in education has always been a part of my life ever since I first worked as a camp counselor in Chester, Connecticut,” said Flax in a press release. “I’m excited to join the Bruce Museum and look forward to the year ahead.”
