Most of the $50-per-person tickets were sold online for third annual Town Party, featuring legendary singer-songwriter James Taylor. Another 100 tickets were sold to people who lined up in person at 8 a.m. Monday at the Office of the Registrar.
The Greenwich Town Party will be held May 25 at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.
All is not lost if you missed your chance to attend the Town Party, however. People can sign up on a waiting list for tickets that become available through cancellations and donations.
If you still come up empty-handed for the Town Party, you can attend the event's new, free "satellite" location.
The satellite location will be the parking lot of the Board of Education building from noon to 6 p.m., just up the street from the Town Party's main location. It will feature activities for kids and families, food from local restaurants and local bands.
James Taylor, famous for songs such as "Fire and Rain" and "Carolina in my Mind," follows other A-list acts at the Town Party after Buddy Guy in 2011 and Paul Simon in 2012. Dave Matthews also made a surprise appearance with Simon at last year's event.
Other acts will include Grammy winner Blues Traveler, known for its 1994 hit "Run Around." The group's lead singer, John Popper, grew up in Stamford.
In addition, the main stage will also feature Michael Franti and Spearhead, Trombone Shorty and New Orleans Avenue, Caroline Jones and the Harlem Gospel Choir.
