Greenwich kids in grades K-2 got out their measuring spoons to create rainbow bean soup jars as part of the Sunday Funday program at JCC Greenwich. The jars were donated to the Kosher Food Pantry at Jewish Family Service in Stamford and organized into Thanksgiving food baskets by 3rd-6th graders from Chai 5 Chessed Club of Chabad House Stamford.

Leah Schechter, assistant director of JCC Greenwich, said, “It is a wonderful thing to be a part of helping our kids learn that even though they are young, they can make an incredible difference in the lives of others.”

Chabad of Stamford Co-Director Leah Shemtov said, “Our Mitzvah Club collected food and then partnered with JFS to prepare the Thanksgiving bags. What a fun surprise to find one of the items being put in had been prepared by another kid's group! We truly felt like a community coming together from all sides to do good for others.”

Both the Sunday Funday program at JCC Greenwich and the Chai 5 Mitzvah Club at Chabad of Stamford meet monthly to provide hands-on experiential learning programs infused with the values of giving and doing for others.
